Simone Moro

Italian mountaineer Simone Moro has climbed several 8000m peaks without oxygen and specialises in seeking out previously unclimbed summits of over 7000m in order to make cutting-edge first ascents. Simone also seeks winter ascents of 8000m peaks – winter ascents being often significantly more difficult to achieve. Career highlights include the first winter ascent of Shisha Pangma (8027m) in 2005, and the first winter ascent of Makalu (8463m) in 2009.

Simone says; “In 2006 I discovered the Nexus fibre. Intrigued by its qualities, I began a number of experiments, including monitoring my average resting heart rate whilst sleeping in a sheet made from the fabric. The results were astonishing!”

Simone developed the Altitude Sock in conjunction with the Accapi development team, and has used Nexus Action base layers since 2007.
